So I’ve seen it thrown around a few times that you aren’t a runner if you don’t run races. I feel I have to reply to this publicly because I disagree with this statement in so many ways. First you run when you can, how you can and where you can. If that means once a week in the basement on the treadmill then that’s what you do. If running means you run 6 days a week with 2 runs a day then that’s what works for you. Who am I to judge? I’m just another person trying to find whats right for me and what works for me. Do you and don’t worry what the others do or might think. Get out there and be the best you that you can be. Okay so with that said I can now move on to the topic of races and running. While I use races to keep me motivated and to give me a new mark to try and reach it doesn’t make me any more or less of a runner than anyone else out there. Maybe the races aren’t your thing because of social anxiety or you just don’t like to run on the streets or trails. Heck, maybe you just don’t have the time or your job schedule is such that you can’t make the race times on the weekends. I run races because I love them and I love being around the people and meeting new people and the overall general excitement created by the race atmosphere. If you see me out there be sure to say hi and I’ll always say hi back! Happy racing, or not racing… enjoy the run!
